Wandertag / A day spent hiking

Am letzten Tag haben wir eine längere Wanderung unternommen - also, für uns alte Leutchen sind 9km schon mehr als ein Spaziergang.

On our last day we went on a hiking tour - for us oldies, 9km already mean more than a little walk.

Isolde trägt ein Kleid, das in den Märchenwald passt. Immer nur bergauf, beklagt sie sich.

Uphill all the way, she complains.
 

Aber vom Tal aus gibt es keine Aussicht! Und einmal oben, ging es ziemlich eben weiter.

But there is no view from the valley! And after the first climbing was done, the way became quite even.

Trotzdem braucht man dann und wann eine Rast. Gut dass hier eine Bank steht!

Anyway, you need a rest now and then. How good they put a bench here!

Diese Aussichtskanzel ist am Hagenstein. Die Einheimischen nennen sie stolz Eder-Loreley.

This is the Hagenstein scenic outpost. The locals proudly call it Eder-Loreley.

Die Eder ist vielleicht ein bisschen kleiner als der Rhein. Aber die Aussicht ist schon schön.

The Eder may be a wee bit smaller than the Rhine. But it's a pretty view still.

Außer für Isolde. 
Ich fühl mich hier sehr sicher. Aber ich sehe nichts!

Except for Isolde.
I feel very safe here. But I can't see anything!

Mal drüben auf die Bank klettern.

Let me climb the bench over there.

Besucher im Garten / Visitors in the garden

Isolde begutachtet unsere Versuche, den Vorgarten schöner zu gestalten.

Hm ganz ok, Mami. Ich schau mal weiter unten.

Hm seems ok, Mummy. I'll have a look further down.

Mami? Mami - das da sieht aus als hätte Daenerys Targaryen es hier vergessen!

Mummy? Mummy - this looks like something left behind by Daenerys Targaryen!

Und da ist noch einer. Die sind ja noch ganz klein und niedlich.

And here's another one. They look small and cute yet.

Aber ich gehe lieber ins Haus, bevor ihre Mama sie suchen kommt!

But I'd rather go to the house, in case their mum comes looking!

Edersee

Das Zwergenhaus liegt in Luftlinie gar nicht weit weg vom Edersee. Wir könnten, wenn wir sportlicher wären, durch den Wald zu Fuß hin gehen - allerdings müssten wir danach den ganzen Weg wieder zurück! Mit dem Auto ist es, weil im Nationalpark keine Straßen sind, eine gute halbe Stunde.

As the bird flies, the GnomeHome is not far from the lake Edersee. If we had a gift for sports, we could hike there through the forest - but that would mean we'd have to walk all the way back afterwards! As there are no roads in the National Park, it's a little more than half an hour by car.

Natürlich hatte Isolde ein passendes Outfit mit!

Isolde of course had brought the right outfit for the occasion!

Der See ist in Wirklichkeit eine Talsperre. Über den Sommer wird das meiste Wasser abgelassen, offiziell wegen der Schifffahrt in der Weser, sicher aber auch um die Kernkraftwerke dort zu kühlen.

The lake is created by a river dam. In summer, most of the water is drained, officially in favour of ship transport on the river Weser, but probably also for cooling the nuclear power stations there.

Das hier ist ein Seitenarm bei Nieder-Werbe. Noch hat er genug Wasser für Wassersport.

This is a branch near the village Nieder-Werbe. Yet, there is enough water for sports.

Ein Boot haben wir leider nicht. Und zum Schwimmen ist es heute zu kalt.

Sadly, we don't have a boat. And it's too cold for swimming today. 

Aber man kann immer auf einem Stein sitzen, gucken und träumen. 

But one can always sit on a stone, watching and dreaming.

Mir zu bunt / A clash of colours

Isolde war, Ostern 2019, schon mal im Zwergenhaus, aber diese Fotos haben es nie in den Blog geschafft. Das wird diesmal anders.

Isolde already visited the GnomeHome, Easter 2019, but those photos never made it into the blog. This time will be different.

Für die Reise trug sie ein wunderschönes Set von Vicky, das ihr sehr gut steht.
Aber nicht hier, Mami! Das beißt sich mit den Wicken!
(Komischerweise sieht es auf meinem Monitor aus als würde es passen...)

For the journey she wore a lovely Vicky set that suits her very well.
But not here, Mummy! It clashes with the vetches!
(It's funny, on my monitor it almost looks as if she'd blend in....)

OK mit dem weißen Spalier davor ist es etwas besser - aber nicht gut.

OK it's better with the white trellis as a border - but  still not good.

Mal sehen wohin dieser Weg führt.

Mami ehrlich, das Set ist toll aber im Garten geht es gar nicht.

Mummy honestly, the set is awesome, but it's completely wrong for the garden.

Jetzt ist es besser - aber ich hab doch bestimmt noch andere Klamotten dabei?

Now it's better - but we certainly brought other duds for me?

Lina

Einen Auftritt hatte sie schon am 4. Juli, in den klassischen Sasha-Farben und mit einer etwas störrischen da unbenutzten Pintucks-Perücke. Ich habe sie von Shellys Seite adoptiert, und obwohl sie als dunkelhaariger Gregor geboren wurde, hatte sie Shelly gesagt sie wäre lieber ein Mädchen.

She already made an appearance on July 4th, in classic Sasha colours and a somewhat stubborn, because unused, Pintucks wig. I adopted her from Shelly's site, and though born as a brunette Gregor, she had told Shelly she'd rather be a girl.

Sie kam in dem senfgelben Kleid, das eines Tages an der richtigen Puppe wunderbar aussehen wird, ihr aber gar nicht stand, und mit dieser kurzen roten Perücke. Deshalb dachte ich eine Zeitlang, hm, vielleicht ist es doch ein Junge?

She arrived in this mustard coloured dress which will look splendid on the right doll some day, but I felt didn't suit her at all, and with the short auburn wig. So for a while I thought, hm, maybe it's still a boy in the end?

Aber sie bestand darauf. Sie brauchte neue, nicht so stramme Gummis und eine Behandlung der eingedrückten Rumpf-Oberlinie. Kahl war sie unter der Perücke schon.
Der Vinylreiniger, gedacht für Reborn-Babies, nimmt nie die ganze Bemalung.

But she insisted. She needed new, less tight, elastics and a neck caving treatment. Under the wig, she had already been bald.
The vinyl cleaner, made for reborn babies, never takes all the face paint.

Die Perücke wurde gründlich gewaschen und mit Arganöl behandelt. Wie neu!
Bei der Bemalung habe ich mich an frühen Götz orientiert, vor allem an meiner Quirina, einem Ochre-Highlight-Girl. Nur dass Lina blaue Augen bekam.

The wig was given a good soaking followed by argan oil conditioning. Like new! I tried to get close to early Götz face paint, inspired by my Quirina, an Ochre Highlight girl. Only, Lina was given blue highlight eyes.

Jetzt kann sie romantische Kleider tragen, so wie dieses.

Now she can wear romantic dresses, like this one.

Oder dieses - an vielen Puppen finde ich es zu lang, aber an ihr, und mit den Wagner Boots, gefällt es mir sehr gut.

Or this one - I feel it's too long on many dolls, but on her, and combined with the Wagner boots, I really like it.

Super model.....

Mix & Match

Vor einiger Zeit kaufte ich einen wunderschönen Matrosenanzug von Jadzia. Natürlich dachte ich dabei an die Jungs - aber die haben ganz andere Ideen von schick als ich.

Nicht mal Charlie wollte ihn anziehen.


Some time ago, I bought a very pretty sailor suit by Jadzia. Of course I had my boys in mind - but their idea of fashionable is much different from mine.

Even Charlie refused to wear it.

Als Prinz musste ich in edlen Anzügen herumlaufen. Hier ist aber Demokratie. Ich darf mich anziehen wie ein ganz normaler Junge.


As a prince I had to wear fancy suits. But here we have democracy. So I may dress as any common boy.

Gutes Argument. Ida stand der Anzug, deshalb trug sie ihn eine Weile. Dann gab sie ihn weiter an Ronja.

He had a point. On Ida it looked good, so she wore the suit for a while. Later, she handed it down to Ronja.

Schließlich tragen Räubertöchter immer Hosen, nie Kleider! An ihr fand ich ihn aber zu dunkel. Deshalb hatte ich neulich eine Idee:

Robber's daughters are known for always wearing trousers, never a dress! But on her, I thought it looked too dark. So recently I had an idea:

Ich habe ein Paar weiße Shorts dazu genäht. Sieht doch noch besser aus - oder?

I made some white shorts to go with the top. Looks even better - doesn't it?

Und mit einem neuen hellen Hemd hat auch Patrick die maritimen Shorts akzeptiert.
Das sieht nicht mehr nach Donald Duck aus, sagt er.

And paired with a new light shirt, even Patrick accepted the maritime shorts.
That way, it doesn't look like Donald Duck's gear any more, he says.

Und so teilen sich jetzt 2 Kinder ein Outfit.

Now 2 kids share an outfit.

Letzten Samstag bei Never Uschi: große Aufregung!

Last Saturday at Never Uschi: big excitement! 

In der Küche!     /    In the kitchen!

Im Regal!   /   On the shelf!

Auf der Kommode! Überall hüpfende und kreischende Mädchen!
Was ist los?

On the sideboard! Jumping and yelling girls everywhere! 
What has happened?

Die Lieferung ist angekommen! Endlich! Tatsächlich ging es sehr schnell - was dauerte, war Mamis Bestellung, weil ich mich nicht entscheiden konnte.
Eine ganze Schachtel voller wundervoller neuer Schuhe von Puppenschuhwerkstatt Wagner.

It's the delivery! At last! In fact, it was very quick - it was Mummy's order that took its time, as I had difficulties to decide.
A whole box of wonderful new shoes by Puppenschuhwerkstatt Wagner.

Natscha machte das Rennen.
Erste! Ich suche mir ein Paar aus.

Natascha beat them all.
I made it first! Now it's my choice.

Die roten. Ja. Die sind es.

The red ones. Yes. It has to be them.
