Veronika macht im Wald eine erfreuliche Entdeckung.

In the woods, Veronika discovers something pleasant.

Die Anemonen sind da! Letzte Woche blühte hier noch gar nichts.

The windflowers have arrived! Last week, nothing at all bloomed here.

Das Kleid ist von Ruthdolls, Pamela trug es als sie bei uns einzog. Die Jacke hat Nick mit in die Familie gebracht. Veronika hat beides aus dem Schrank gebuddelt. Dazu zwei wilde Hyazinthen und eine Narzisse – perfekt.

The dress is by Ruthdolls, our Pamela came in it. Nick brought the cardi into the family. Veronika dug both up in the wardrobe. Next to her, two wild hyacinths and one daffodil – perfect.

Hier sind noch mehr Anemonen. Und da drüben erst….

Here we have more windflowers. But look over there...

Ja! Das ist echter Fortschritt Richtung Frühling.

Yes! We‘re making real progress in the direction of spring.

Blau und GELB! / Blue and YELLOW!

Mami hat endlich den neuen Pullover fertig gestrickt.

At last, Mummy finished knitting the new sweater.

Er ist in Blautönen und kräftigem Gelb. Erik hat ihn sich geschnappt und wandert am Bach entlang.

It‘s in shades of blue and a deep yellow. Erik picked it up and is now hiking along a brook.

Schau mal! Eine kleine Gans wohnt hier. Sie ist gar nicht schüchtern. Wie niedlich!

Look! A little goose lives here. It‘s not shy at all. How cute!

Ich muss weiter. Tschüs Gans!

I must keep going. Bye, goose!

Aber die Gans läuft schnatternd hinter Erik her!

But the goose follows Erik quacking!

Glaubst du etwa weil mein Pulli die gleiche Farbe hat wär ich auch eine Gans?

Do you believe my sweater is the same colour so I am a goose, too?

Na gut! Dann komm halt mit.

Blau und gelb? / Blue and yellow?

Marie hat ein blaues Kleid aufgetrieben, aber in ihrer Strickjacke ist nur wenig Gelb.

Marie has rustled up a blue dress, but her cardi has only a hint of yellow in its pattern.

 

Vielleicht stelle ich mich einfach neben diese gelben Blumen?

Maybe I‘ll just stand next to these yellow flowers?

Oder zu diesen? Mami! Du musst schneller stricken!

Or behind those? Mummy! You must knit faster!

Ein Märzmorgen / A morning in March

Scarlett ist ein klein wenig enttäuscht von ihrem neuen Pullover.

Scarlett‘s new sweater was a slight disappointment.

Den hat Mami nämlich angefangen bevor blau und gelb ein Thema wurden. Aber er steht ihr und ist ideal, um heute durch den knackig kühlen sonnigen Morgen zu wandern.

For Mummy started it when blue and yellow wasn‘t an issue yet. But it suits her, and it‘s just right for hiking on a crisp and cool sunny morning.

Und um durch ein schattiges Tal zu streifen.

An to rove through a shady valley.

und eine lange geheimnisvolle Röhre zu entdecken.

and to detect a long mystical tube.

Am Ende des Tunnels ist Licht! Ansonsten ist er eher langweilig.

There‘s light at the end of the tunnel! Apart from that, it‘s quite a bore.

Die Aussicht von hier oben ist viel schöner.

The view from here is much prettier.

Das Sonnenbad hab ich mir verdient.

I can do with this sun-bath now.

Anderer Meinung / A different view

Nicht jeder ist glücklich weil die Sonne scheint und der Winter enden wird.

Not everybody is happy with sunshine and the end of winter coming closer.

Cedric hatte mit den jungen Schlittenhunden Nikita und Frosty sehr winterliche Pläne. Daraus wird nichts – obwohl es kalt genug wäre, ist kein Fitzelchen Schnee zu sehen.

Cedric had very wintry plans for the young sled dogs Nikita and Frosty. They won‘t work out – cold enough it may be, but there‘s not a single tiny bit of snow anywhere.

Nö Jungs keine Schlittenfahrt heute. Das Gras ist nicht mal mehr gefroren! Wir müssen einen ganz normalen Hundespaziergang machen.

Nope boys no sled ride today. Not even the grass is frozen! We‘ll have to go for an ordinary doggie walk.

Wie blöd! Das ist zu wenig Training für euch – und zu viel für mich.

How annoying! That‘s not enough exercise for you – and too much for me.

Die Hunde wissen mehr / Dogs know better

Heute scheint endlich einmal die Sonne. Leider ist es aber immer noch kalt.

Today sun is shining at last. But alas it is still pretty cold.

Isolde ist auf einen Meilenstein geklettert. Vielleicht kann sie von dort aus den Frühling sehen? Ich seh nix.

Isolde has climbed a mile stone. Maybe she can see spring from here? I can‘t see anything.

Aber die Pudel behaupten, sie könnten ihn riechen.

But the poodles claim they can smell it.

Echt so? Egal, lasst uns spielen!

Really? Never mind, let‘s play!

Der Winter verliert / Winter is losing

So schnell wie er kam ist der Schnee wieder weg.

As swiftly as it fell, the snow melted away.

Im Garten findet Notso ein großes Nest Schneeglöckchen.

In the garden, Notso finds a huge nest of snowdrops.

Sind sie nicht prächtig? Der Winter kann nicht gewinnen.

Aren‘t they stately? Winter will never win.

Und dann kann man ja immer noch den Frühling ins Haus holen!

And there is always the possibility to invite spring into your house!
