Wen man im Wald trifft / Whom you meet in the forest

It‘s the last day of the holidays already. How good there is still enough snow left today.

Mia and Emme drive a team of two. It might be too difficult for one horse to pull through the middle of the forest.

Plötzlich stoppen Helene und Darsie.

Suddenly, Helene and Darsie come to a halt.

Was ist los? Was habt ihr gesehen?

What‘s up? What have you seen?

Da vorne ist ein Zwerg! Er sieht recht verfroren aus.

There‘s a dwarf in front of us! He looks very cold.

Könnt ihr mich mitnehmen? Es ist sehr kalt in diesem Wald!

Can you give me a lift? It‘s freezing in this forest!

Danke Mädels! Das macht Spaß! Geht es auch ein bisschen schneller?

Thank you girls! That‘s fun! Can we go a little faster maybe?

Suddenly: but we know them! You always meet the same folks – aside from dwarfs.

We‘ve been watching you for a while, but you didn‘t pay attention. Let‘s ride together for a short way.

Das Training geht weiter / The coaching goes on

While the girls are having fun at the GnomeHome, Felix has practised. He can show Bina now what he achieved.

Bazi and Bazille now can do perfect heelwork. Well the dachshunds knew this before, but now Felix also knows how to do it!

Sie bleiben da wo sie sollen

They stay where they are told

They come when called - Snoby joins them.

Sie haben sogar ein kleines Kunststück gelernt.

They even learnt a little trick.

Alright, not too bad. So it's time now for the next step.

Schon wieder die Augenbinde! Wozu mache ich das?

The blindfold again! Why am I doing this?

Zum Fühlen! Du musst es fühlen!

To get a feeling! You need to feel it!

A ride in the snow! How often do we get this opportunity? Emme and Mia saddled Helene and Darsie.

After snowfall the forest looks enchanted! My this feels like the best Christmas fairy tale film ever: Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella.

That means we ought to round up a handsome prince in this forest.

Look over there! Others had the same idea we had. Maybe there‘s even a prince in this party?

Die kennen wir doch! Hey, Cousins und Rick!

But we know them! Hey, cousins and Rick!

We‘ll let Rick and Peter pass as makeshift princes.

To ride together is even more fun. But we are many girls – and very few princes!

Schlittenlehrling / Sleigh apprentice

While Liebknecht is a well trained experienced horse, Bastille never pulled a sleigh before.

She knows, like many horses, the words for walk, trot, gallop…. but she doesn‘t know left from right.

Bastille! Nach links! Nach links! Links!!!

Bastille! To the left! To the left! Left!!

Das andere links!!!!!

The other left!!!!

Bastille thinks she must find out what the yelling is all about, so she takes a look.

Das üben wir noch mal.

We‘ll have to try harder.

Winterwelt / Winter world

Mia and Emerald have taken Helene and Bastille with them – Bastille will stay at the GnomeHome, where the stables are larger. Today, the girls decided to ride in the snow.

The snow has shrunken quite a bit. Actually, there is not much of it left! But there‘s still a lot of tempting surroundings.

Oh!

Oh! Here the defrost water has accumulated in a wide ditch.

Ob die Pferde da hindurch gehen werden? Hoffentlich müssen sie nicht schwimmen!

Will the horses walk trough it? I just hope they don‘t have to swim!

Schon geschafft – wer wagt gewinnt.

Just done it – no guts, no glory.

Und weiter geht‘s. Da drüben sieht es auch interessant aus!

And we keep going. It looks promising over there!

Schlittenfahrt / Sleigh ride

The girls always were envious when they saw their cousins on a sleigh tour. But here they have found enough snow at last.

Mami hat sehr schnell 2 Schals gestrickt. Die Mützen sind improvisiert.

Mummy knitted two scarves very swiftly. The hats had to be improvised.

Liebknecht zieht den Schlitten durch die Winterlandschaft. Schön!

Liebknecht pulls the sleigh through a winterly landscape. It‘s beautiful!

Wer kommt denn da von hinten?

Who is approaching from behind?

Mia! Das ist gefährlich! Fall nicht raus!

Mia! That‘s dangerous! Don‘t topple over!

Jetzt steht auch Emme. Der andere Schlitten holt rasch auf.

Now Emme also is standing. The other sleigh gets closer quickly.

Hans ist viel schneller als Liebknecht. Julchen, Clara und Adelheid sind begeistert.

Hans is much faster than Liebknecht. Julchen, Clara, and Adelheid are pleased with him.

Dort steht ein großer Schneemann. Den müssen wir uns näher ansehen.

There is a tall snowman. We have to take a closer look.

Den haben die Jungs gestern gebaut. Ist der riesig! Winter macht einfach Spaß.

The boys built it yesterday. It‘s huge! Winter is just fun.

Winterferien / Winter holidays

How to start a new year better than with some days at the GnomeHome?

Und es hat sogar geschneit! Mia und Emerald können es kaum glauben.

It even snowed! To Mia and Emerald, this is hard to believe.

Sehr viel Schnee ist das ja nicht. Was kann man damit anfangen?

Well it‘s not much snow anyway. What can we do with it?

It‘s certainly enough to make some snow balls!

Mädels! Es ist viel zu kalt! Wo sind eure Schals und Mützen?

Girls! It‘s much too cold! Where are your scarves and hats?

Gute Frage, Mami – du hast keine eingepackt!

Oh!

Good question, Mummy – you didn‘t bring any!

Oh! That means an elderly lady will have to knit real fast….
