Vorgarten / Front yard

Modesty can be most reasonable. She says she doesn't mind if her dress was made last year, to her it is new. And it suits her well!

Diese Narzissen wachsen in unserem Vorgarten. Der Giersch leider auch...

These daffodils grow in our front yard. Unfortunately, so does the ground elder...

Und ein paar leuchtend gelbe Krokusse.

And some shiny yellow crocus.

Unterm Kirschbaum wachsen lila Krokusse.

There are lilac crocus under the cherry tree.

Weiter so!

And the rhubarb returned. But it still has to grow a lot!

All in all, Modesty is pleased with the front yard. Go on like this!

Die Frühjahrskollektion / The spring collection

If pigs really can sew... the spring outfits are finished at last.

Ellie already showed us the "Volcom" pinafore and blouse in London. But the other garments were snapped up, too.

Jenny gefällt das geblümte Kleid.

Jenny likes the flowered dress.

Endlich mal etwas ganz Neues für Jenny! Sie ist begeistert.

Something new and pristine for Jenny! She is happy.

Giselle went for the pink A-line dress.

Ich finde, die Farbe steht ihr! Die Socken sind aus alter Unterwäsche.

I think the colour suits her! The socks are made from recycled underwear.

Pippa in rot mit Tupfen.

Pippa in red with white dots.

Without the hair band, her fringe keeps sticking up. With it, it shades her eyes - but she says she can see anyway.

Und ein Gruppenfoto  - danke Mädels! Ihr seid super!

And a group photo - thank you girls! You are marvellous!

Abriss / Demolition

Ganz anderes Thema...

Something completely different...

Erik schaut ganz fasziniert vom Geländer der Bahnbrücke in Tamm. Was sieht er?

Erik watches out in fascination from the railway bridge's banister in Tamm. What's it he sees?

These buildings have been there for fifty-odd years. From 1972 to 1990, my dad worked as a manager for the company; before that, he had been employed by another branch of the same company. 1990 he got ill and couldn't work for some time. After 30 years, he was dismissed without hesitation.

Nicht lange danach war die Firma pleite. Unsere Familie war ein kleines bisschen schadenfroh... Die Gebäude wurden dann anderweitig genutzt.

A few years later the company went belly-up. Our family was a tiny bit gloating... the buildings were let then to other businesses.

And soon they will be all gone.
If my dad had lived to see it, would he have felt regret or pleasure? The way he was treated, he'd had no reason to be sad.

Die Firma ist mir egal, sagt Erik. Mir gefallen die Baumaschinen!

I don't care about the company, Erik says. I like the construction machines!

London 3

A lot was going on in Trafalgar Square, some bands were playing - we rescued ourselves into the quieter National Gallery.

But it had given Ellie ideas. I had found the ultimate Sasha souvenir at Cards Galore.

Eine Green Day - Gitarre!

A Green Day guitar!
So Ellie didn't want to come with us on Wednesday (it rained) but rather stay in the hotel and practise American Idiot.
(She interrupts me here. She says she practised Peacemaker.)

The lovely flowerbeds in Hyde Park also looked good in gloomier weather. Afterwards we spent a lot of time in the Victoria & Albert Museum, and later we had delicious Afternoon Tea.

Thursday already was our last day. We spent a fortune to leave our luggage at the station and saw some last sights.

Ellie is standing on a flower cart in front of Covent Garden market hall.

Tschüs London! Mir hat es hier sehr gut gefallen!

Bye London! I loved being here!

London 2

The weather was very fine, so we rode a boat  along the Thames and crossed it on the Millennium Bridge.

We were not the only ones who thought this a good idea on that day...

No photo of Ellie posing in front of St Paul's, for it was so windy she was unable to stay on her feet. Here she's searching shelter in the rucksack.

The bus to Tower Hill was stuck in a traffic congestion - but no problem for us, there was enough to see! We then crossed the Thames again on Tower Bridge.

Seen from this side, I'm not so certain if the tall buildings make the view more attractive. Without them in the background, I thought the Tower was more impressing. Well it seems I've reached the age when you start believing everything was better in the past!

Ellie likes the flowers, which are a little more progressed than at home. And some of the plants growing here are edible!

Ellie in London

We had a short discussion, and the large bag was taken on our trip - but it was used differently than Ellie had thought.

So she could be in the cabin. On the pic, she is carefully examining the Stansted Express.

She was allowed much less outfits than she had wanted, but she was well equipped for the forecast rain.

The photo was taken on Tuesday, when still all was peaceful and quiet in Westminster.

In Westminster Abbey waren keine Fotos erlaubt. Im Kreuzgang dann aber schon.

No photos allowed inside Westminster Abbey, but in the cloister it was okay.

Hier geht es in die Tate Britain. Mami musste sich die Präraffaeliten ansehen!

This is the entrance to Tate Britain. Mummy had to see the Pre-Raphaelites!

Little girls may be unimpressed by old paintings - but no rain at all on Tuesday! How great!
The cardigan was finished just in time. The pinafore was made from an old pair of Volcom shorts that had belonged to my daughter.

Zum Verirren / For getting lost

Tammy went on Sunday to a walk out in the green with us. Well, it's not that green here yet.

But the sun was shining, and it was pretty warm.
Tammy discovered something interesting next to the bench.

A navigation system checkpoint! The plaque on the stone says you have to type in the coordinates to adjust the system up to the centimetre.

There's one hook: the checkpoint is in the middle of the meadows! It's impossible to reach it by car. So, how up to the centimetre will the adjusting be? Now I know why so many people get misled...

Reisevorbereitungen / Getting ready for travel

Ellie freut sich schon. Sie darf nämlich mit.

Ellie is happy. She will come with us.

We very seldom spend our holidays abroad. But to London I have already been twice - 1990 with my husband and two years ago with my daughter. This time, it will be Hubby and my mum. It's her very first flight!

London - that will be fun. We'll stay for 3 nights. I hope that will be enough to see all the sights and to do some shopping.
Ellie? What about that huge bag you're sitting on?

That bag? But I'll need some clothes to change!
Ellie, we'll have to re-pack!

Maybe... we'll see... let me wave goodbye!

Ellie you don't need to wave now, we'll fly on Monday...

Gruppenfoto / Group photo

Die ersten Mädels sind umgezogen! Jetzt kann der Frühling kommen.

The first girls have changed from their winter clothes! Now spring can come.

The sleeves are still long, and some jackets are used.
The little basket was sold as Easter decoration at Lidl, and the primrose is meant to get us into Spring mood.

Auf dem Laufsteg / On the catwalk

To me, it's not easy to buy Sashas clothes at the moment. I'd love to have another outfit by Frances Trickett, but so do many other collectors, as proven by her recent auctions...
But I found something on Ebay I could afford: a cute set by holidayfundforus. I already own some shoes by her which are very nicely made, and the blouse and pinafore I received last week are a perfect fit.

Grace is posing in them on our new Sasha catwalk. She is happy she is one of the first girls wearing something ready for spring.

Die Umhängetasche gehört dazu. Schuhe von Käthe Kruse, Strümpfe von Mami.

The shoulder bag is part of the set. Shoes by Käthe Kruse, socks by Mummy.

Sehr stylisch!

Very stylish! But Ellie, in the background, is certain our own spring collection will be ready soon.

Schubladentaucher / Drawer diver

Meistens müssen meine Sashas bekanntlich Selbstgemachtes anziehen.

Most of the time, my Sashas must make do with mummy made clothes. But sometimes I purchase something for them - like this little dress, from Ebay seller terrib1.

Honey was the first one to wear it. It's a good fit. I think it's very short - bordering on too short. Honey thinks it's stylish. She claims not to have cold knees.
She stands beside the Moppe to show its scale. But she is not alone.

Jocko, was machst du denn da? Komm aus der Schublade!

Jocko, what are you trying to do? Get out of the drawer!

Was wolltest du denn da drinnen? Hast du gedacht, du hast endlich das Bananenversteck gefunden?

What did you want in there? Did you believe you found the banana bonanza at last?

Aber es hat nur ein paar Strumpfhosen. Zu schade...

But there are only some tights. Too bad...

Projekt Moppe / The Moppe project

While at Ikea, I also got a Moppe miniature storing unit. I want to get some more tidiness on my chest of drawers in the living room: 2 Sashas on top and 4 around should fit.
Moppe is made from undecorated birch plywood. Of course, I couldn't leave it that way.

So I spent the weekend Shabby Chic creating. It's amazing what you can do with some acrylic colours and motives from paper napkins! I soon run out of napkin glue, which I had forgotten as I hadn't used it for a very long time, but I could use diluted Tacky Glue instead.

I put seldom worn Sasha shoes into the lower drawers. The upper ones are for tights while it's summer. I know it won't be too easy to reach them, with Sashas standing in front of the unit.

Pity most of it won't be visible later...
