Kor der Engel / Kor the angel

In our nativity scene, for 7 years now Kor the angel has been awakening. Even when there was very little room, he was part of it.

All the others are made of air drying clay, but he had to be more angelic, so I sculpted him from polymer clay (Puppen Fimo, I believe).
Kor is a case of misheard lyrics from the German carol Leise rieselt der Schnee (Snow is falling silently). The line is written Chor der Engel erwacht (Choir of angels awakens). Well the German is not better than the English, it should be DER Chor der Engel / THE choir of angels. So maybe it's always spelled wrongly and really says Kor der Engel erwacht / Kor the angel awakens?
For seven years, my family looked at him and mumbled "nice". This year all of a sudden my mum and sis decided they also need one, and are unable to make him themselves.
(They are both offline for the rest of the year, so I'm not spoiling a surprise).
So this Christmas, I made angels.

Zwei Engel in Unterwäsche...

Two angels in their underwear...
Kor 1, right side, is for my little sister, whose scene is in a slightly larger scale than 1:12, Kor 2, left, is for my mum - hers is in dollhouse scale.

Kor 1 habe ich aus Super Sculpey gebacken. Deshalb ist er etwas blasser.

I baked Kor 1 from Super Sculpey, that's why he is a little paler.

Kor 2 is made of Living Doll. His head was easier to make, but the hands more difficult. Luckily, they could cook together in my toaster oven.

Kor 1 has found some clothes and has received his wings. I glued the feathers onto little pieces of pipe cleaner, sewn to the angel backs. They could be pushed through the little holes in the eyelet easily.

To avoid any of them getting jealous, their garments are identical. But the hair is missing!

Und jetzt in aller himmlischen Pracht und Herrlichkeit....

And now, in all his heavenly glory and magnificence...

The two of them are finished, and Christmas days are over.
It's very tiring to look at yawning angels all the time!

    1. Well organized.... but Mum and sis both were very pleased with their angels, and each of them is now sitting in his own home made Nativity. What more do you need?

  2. How cute and so nice for you to actually be able to give your mum and your sister presents that you've made yourself. I am sure these little angels will become treasured by their new owners and brought out every Christmas for many years to come!
    Happy New Year to you!
    xx

    1. Yes, my mum and my sister both have large nativity scenes they display each year and both angels fitted in well, scale-wise. Sadly, I forgot to bring my camera, but I hope my sister will send me some pictures of hers, which is the largest.
Happy New Year to you, too! I hope I'll find more time for my blog the next months.
