I begin with the second house we visited that day.
Isn't it charming? Isn’t it lovely? Isn't the overgrown garden so romantic? From the house's left side, the garden slopes down for quite a distance.
What's not visible on the photo is the steep and narrow road leading to the house, and the grumpy neighbour I met who wasn't charming at all.
The real estate agent was a very friendly man, the dachshunds were allowed inside. Kuno doesn't care for the pretty old fashioned tiles. Archie seems to like them.
Wundervolle Einbauschränke im Gästezimmer
Wonderful built in wardrobes in the guest room
The roof deck, alas, is lacking neatness. The house was rebuilt in the 1970s, and the result were cracks in the walls of almost all the rooms. We were concerned these cracks might worsen during repairs on the roof deck.
This great two-levelled room would have made a perfect bed room for us - it also had fitted wardrobes - but after pondering for quite a while we decided this house is not for us. Its location, its structure - but it was a real pity.
It really is a charming looking house, but I can understand why you passed. Repairing structural problems is no small task. I'm much better with projects that require patience, but not lot of skill like painting and refinishing wood.

The biggest problem would have been supervising the craftsmen. We live 340km apart! So, we decided it would have caused too many problems.
LöschenWhat a sweet house! Such a shame it had a cracked roof, steep lane and a grumpy neighbour ! and yes it could have had some worse things underneath!
AntwortenLöschenBut I am sure the house for you is out there waiting and it's so nice we get to go along with you and view :)
It certainly is waiting.. and it was of course nice to visit several different houses.
LöschenYou're house hunting!! Yes, I'm catching up, I'm sooooo behind so forgive me starting at the beginning and maybe working backwards!! Nice looking house but what a shame it has those problems, but as I always say, something you prefer will come along, it always does :) x
AntwortenLöschenWhen we retire, we'd like to live somewhere more quiet and less crowded than the area around Stuttgart. Plus, my sister and brother in law already own a house at the Eder lake, only half an hour apart from where we were hunting. That's near enough for family visits, but not too close!
