Künftiges Obst / Fruit to come

Manchmal sieht es jetzt schon richtig nach Frühling aus.

Der Himmel ist blau! Das Gras wächst! Die Bäume blühen! Das ist wundervoll.

Das hier werden im Herbst hoffentlich eine Menge Äpfel sein.

Der Piraten-Lavasee / The pirates‘ lava lake

Die Sonne scheint, aber früh am Morgen ist es noch recht kühl.

The sun is shining, but it‘s still chilly in the early morning hours.

Neil und Marty haben für die Hunderunde Jacke und Cape über die neuen Shirts gezogen. Wenn man nicht friert macht Wandern mehr Spaß.

Neil and Marty teamed their new shirts with jacket and cape. Hiking is so much more fun when you‘re not freezing.

Plötzlich ändert sich das Gelände. Vor ihnen liegt eine merkwürdige dunkle Fläche. Das ist doch Asche? Misty schnuffelt aufgeregt. Was könnte das sein?

Suddenly the environment changes. A strange dark area lies in front of them. This seems to be ashes? Misty is sniffing excitedly. What could it be?

Ein Lavasee, ruft Neil. Hier muss ein Vulkan ausgebrochen sein!

A lava lake, Neil calls. Certainly a volcano has erupted!

Mamis Erklärungsversuch, es könnten auch die Reste eines Osterfeuers sein, findet keine Zustimmung. Aber vielleicht haben hier Piraten eine Festung niedergebrannt, schlägt Marty vor.

Mummy‘s attempt at explaining, it might be the remnants of an Easter fire, is not approved. But maybe pirates burned down a stronghold here, Marty suggests.

Ob es hier sicher ist? Es ist ein unheimlicher Ort. Aber – auch romantisch.

Is it safe here? It‘s an eerie place. But – romantic, too.

Lorfetal-Piraten / Pirates of the Lorfe valley

Drei Wochen lang konnten wir nicht ins Zwergenhaus fahren. In dieser Zeit hat ein Sturm das Dach zerstört, das jahrelang unseren Lehmofen geschützt hatte. Dann kam reichlich Schnee. Danach eine Menge Regen…

For three weeks we didn‘t manage to drive to the GnomeHome. Meanwhile a storm destroyed the roof that had protected our loam oven for years. Afterwards, plenty of snow fell, followed by a lot of rain...

Neil und Marty stehen fassungslos vor dem Ergebnis. Mami! Der Lehmofen ist zusammengebrochen! Was wird aus unserer Grillparty?

Stunned, Neil and Marty stand in front of the result. Mummy! The loam oven has collapsed! What about our barbecue party?

Definitiv nichts. Die Ofenruine taugt nur noch als Abenteuerspielplatz.

No way, definitely. The oven ruin is only fit for an adventure playground.

Um ihn wieder aufzubauen, müsste erst der Lehm geborgen werden. Der ist jetzt aber trocken und bockelhart.

Von hier aus können wir nach Piraten Ausschau halten, meint Marty.

Bei uns daheim gibt es ein großes Hallo!

Der Krach lockt Patrick an. Was hat sie denn Tolles getan?

Sie hat im Supermarkt eine ganz normale Flasche Rapsöl erbeutet!

In the supermarket, she got her hands on an ordinary bottle of rapeseed oil!

Wie jetzt? Rapsöl ist doch gar nicht knapp, Sonnenblumenöl geht aus.

So what? There‘s no shortage of rape oil, it‘s sunflower oil we‘re running out of.

Sag das mal den Leuten, die kaufen es auf wie verrückt. Mami sagt sie hat seit Wochen keine ganz normale Flasche Rapsöl im Laden gesehen. Und hier ist jetzt eine!

You tell this the folks who are hoarding it like crazy. Mummy said she hasn‘t seen an ordinary bottle of rape oil in the shops for weeks. And now there is one!

Jetzt brauchen wir aber Ergebnisse. Pommes!

Nicht schon wieder! / Not again!

Man könnte grad meinen, bei uns wäre der Schnee die ganze Zeit liegen geblieben. In Wirklichkeit hat es für den Rest der letzten Woche geregnet – und heute früh gab es neuen Schnee.

One might believe the snow had remained here all the time. In fact it rained for the rest of the week – and this morning we had fresh snow.

Aber diesmal ist es nicht so viel. Jetzt scheint die Sonne. Davy kann mit Susi einen schönen Spaziergang machen.

But tonight it has not been much. Now the sun is shining. Davy can go for a nice walk with Susi.

Das bisschen Schnee taut schon wieder. Susi komm! Für den kleinen Dackel ist dieser Baumstamm sehr hoch.

The small amount of snow is thawing already. Come on Susi! This tree trunk seems very tall for the little Dachshund.

Geschafft! Jetzt hat sie etwas in der Nase. Was könnte es sein?

Weiße Überraschung / White surprise

Die drei No Navel Girls haben gehört, dass Mami im Garten eine Farb- und Stilberatung für Blumen braucht.

The three No Navel girls heard Mummy needs flowers colour and style counseling.

Jetzt sind sie ratlos. Ich könnte nicht sagen ob die Primel die richtige Farbe hat!

Now they are out of their depths. I couldn‘t tell if the primrose is the right colour!

Giselle will nachsehen ob es in allen Töpfen so aussieht. Zazou und Vivienne zögern noch. Dafür haben wir nicht die richtigen Schuhe an!

Giselle wants to have a look at the other flower pots. Do they look the same? Zazou and Vivienne are reluctant. We don‘t wear the right shoes for that!

Die sind wohl blau, überlegt Giselle. Aber ich krieg kalte Füße!

These might be blue, Giselle muses. But my feet are getting cold!

 

Gut dass ich die Strumpfhose noch anhabe, denkt Zazou. Und hier könnte eine gelbe hin passen!

Good thing I‘m still wearing tights, Zazou thinks. And here we could put a yellow one!

Der Bärlauch ist sicher ok unterm Schnee und die Tulpe passt zu meinem Outfit, findet Vivienne. Mission beendet! Jetzt aber schnell zurück ins Haus!

Certainly the wild garlic will be alright under the snow, and the tulip matches my outfit, Vivienne decides. Mission accomplished! Now quickly back into the house!

Gute Frage / You may well ask

Noch bevor der Schnee uns erwischte – Pippa nutzt den letzten warmen Tag.

Just before the snow hit us – Pippa benefits from the last warmer day.

 

 

Mami! Die Primel hat die falsche Farbe! Du hättest eine gelbe pflanzen müssen! – Naja ich hab die nicht gepflanzt, jedenfalls nicht heuer. Sie hat in dem Topf überwintert und steckte eine Spitze raus, als ich die Hornveilchen eingetopft habe.

 

Mummy! The primrose is the wrong colour! You should have planted a yellow one! - Well I didn‘t plant it, at least not recently – actually it hibernated in this pot, and when I potted the horned pansies, it just stuck out its tip.

Na gut, dafür passen die Blumen gut zum Kleid und das zu Pippas Augen: die wurden braun gesprayt und blau gemalt. In natura sind Kleid und Blumen etwas mehr Richtung lila.

Very well, but the flowers match the dress and the dress matches Pippa‘s unique eyes: they were sprayed brown and painted blue. In real life dress and flowers look a bit more purplish.

Mami hat dieses Kleid weder genäht noch gekauft. Neil hat es mitgebracht. Danke Neil! Übrigens…

Mummy neither made this dress nor did she buy it. Neil brought it. Thank you Neil! By the way...

Wie kommt es dass du uns ein Kleid mitgebracht hast, Neil? Jungs sind doch sonst nicht so aufmerksam.
