Hattitude

 Also, es ist so mit Blogger, dass ich posten kann, aber ich kann nicht kommentieren, angeblich irgend was mit meinen Cookies-Einstellungen, an denen ich aber nicht geschraubt hatte. Nicht kommentieren heißt, ich kann leider auch nicht auf Kommentare antworten.

Well the issue with Blogger is, I can post but I cannot comment. It's something to do with my cookies management they say, but I didn't mess with that. No comments means, I unluckily can't answer to comments either.

Ida fragt ihre Schwestern: Warum habt ihr schon die Weihnachtskleider an? Es ist ja noch November!

Wir haben die immer noch an, antworten die beiden. Mami hatte andere Ding im Kopf und hat uns nie umgezogen. Aber, sie passen tatsächlich, denn wir haben ein wundervolles Geschenk von Tante Dee bekommen:

Ida aks her sisters, Why are you already wearing the Christmas dresses? I'ts only just November!

We're still wearing them, they answer. Mummy had other things on her mind and never changed us. But now they are just right, because we received a wonderful gift from Auntie Dee:

Hattie-Hüte! Und sie passen perfekt zu unseren Outfits! Vielen lieben Dank Tante Dee, wir sind sehr glücklich!

Nur das mit der Hattitude, das üben wir noch...

 Jetzt habe ich meinen armen Blog seit über einem Jahr vernachlässigt und Blogger benimmt sich seltsam. Mal sehen ob ich das hier posten kann.

I neglected my poor blog for more than a year, and Blogger is behaving strangely. Let's see if I can post this...

Es ist zu trocken / It‘s too dry

Man kann auch im Garten stylisch unterwegs sein, zum Beispiel in einem der beiden Frances-Trickett-Sets die wir besitzen. Heute hat Grace es sich gesichert.

You can roam the garden in style, too, e.g. wearing one of the two Frances Trickett sets we own. Today Grace laid her hands on it.

Zu ernten wird es da nicht viel geben.

There won‘t be much of a harvest here.

Weil es kaum geregnet hat. Zucchini mögen viel Wasser.

Because it rained too little. Zucchini like their water.

Die Kartoffeln anscheinend auch. Ich hab schon viel größere Pflanzen gesehen.

So do potatoes, obviously. I used to see much taller ones.

Was macht dieser Schlauch? Er vertropft Wasser bei den Tomaten? Und wo kommt das Wasser her?

What is this hose for? To trickle water to the tomatoes? And where does that water com from?

Aus diesem Fass – nachdem Mami es von den Regentonnen umgeschöpft hat.

From this barrel – after Mummy filled it up out of the rain butts.

Lange wird das eine Fass nicht reichen. So große Trockenheit – so wenig Wasser…

This barrel won‘t last long. Such a long drought – so little water…

Manche brauchen keine Alpen / Some don't need the Alps

Nicht jeder muss gleich einen Rucksack, einen Seppelhut und ein Edelweiß haben.

Not everybody needs a backpack, a Bavarian hat and an edelweiss.

 

Diana ist glücklich mit unserem neuen Minirock-Set von Vicky.

Diana is happy to wear our new rara skirt set by Vicky.

Und für diese Landschaft braucht sie nicht mal ein Seil.

And to hike this scenery, she doesn't need a rope.

Alpine Träume / Alpine dreams

Dass Rick von Roropo ins Allgäu fahren durfte, macht einige Kinder ein bisschen neidisch.

When they learned Rick had traveled from Roropo to Allgäu. some kids were a little jealous.

Immerhin haben wir ein Edelweiß! Eve betrachtet es, während sie ein Kleid modelt das Mami für kleines Geld bei Woolworth in Bad Wildungen fand. Die Wagner-Stiefel wären sicher für eine Bergwanderung geeignet.

At least we have an edelweiss! Eve is watching it while she models a dress Mummy found at a bargain price at Woolworth in Bad Wildungen. The Wagner boots are certainly fit for some mountain hiking.

 

Mami? Ich brauche noch Rucksack, Sepplhut und ein Seil!

Mummy? Now I need a backpack, a Bavarian hat and a rope!

Zukunftspläne / Plans for the future

Nicht nur das Herumkacheln mit Richthofen macht Spaß. Felix gefällt es auch gut, mit Belle durch den Garten zu kantern.

To dash around with Richthofen is not the only thing that‘s fun. Felix thinks, cantering with Belle in the gardens is a pleasure, too.

Ich glaube ich kann jetzt fast jedes Pferd reiten.

I think I can ride almost any horse now.

Wenn ich groß bin, könnte ich sogar Jockey werden.

When I‘m grown, I even could be a jockey.

Dann sollte ich allerdings nicht zu sehr wachsen. Und Jockeys müssen leicht sein – womöglich darf ich dann gar nicht mehr alles essen was mir schmeckt!

But I shouldn‘t grow too tall, then. And jockeys must be light weight – perhaps I couldn‘t even eat all the good stuff then!

Ich muss noch mal über meine Berufspläne nachdenken. Ein Imbiss wäre ja auch nicht schlecht…

I‘ll have to reconsider my career plans. A fast food outlet could be fun, too…

Zutritt verboten / Access denied

Später, am gleichen Tag, fährt Mami noch einen kleinen Umweg.

Later, the same day, Mummy drives a short detour.

Zwei Jungs rütteln vergeblich an einem massiven Gitter.

Two boys are rattling a massive grid, without success.

Es gehört zu Burg Lichtenfels. Die ist in Privatbesitz und kann nicht besichtigt werden.

It belongs to Lichtenfels castle. It‘s private property and can‘t be visited.

Schade! Das sieht schon verlockend aus.

A pity! It certainly looks promising.

Dieser Stein immerhin gehört zum Parkplatz und ist frei zugänglich.

This rock is part of the parking lot anyway, so it can be accessed freely.

So eine Burg wäre schon schön, findet Danny.

A castle like this would be a find thing, Danny muses.

Aber wir haben das Zwergenhaus! Und ein Heim ist eine Burg! Hurra! Wir haben eine Zwergenburg!

But we have the GnomeHome! And a home is a castle! Hooray! We own a Gnome castle!

Training

Felix hat schnell Richthofen gesattelt, und Danny ist so lieb ihn mit Belle zu begleiten.

Felix saddled Richthofen swiftly, and Danny is so kind to accompany him with Belle.

Das sieht recht gut aus! Richthofen versucht keine seiner üblichen Faxen.

This looks quite good! Richthofen tries none of his usual tricks.

Belle ist schnell, aber Richthofen führt.

Belle is fast, but Richthofen is leading.

Holt sie jetzt auf? Danny gibt alles!

Is she catching up? Danny gives it all!

 

Aber Richthofen behält die Führung und setzt sich sogar ein bisschen ab.

But Richthofen keeps the lead, he even gains some advance.

Hurra! Ich kann ihn reiten! Er kann gewinnen! Aber wann das Große Rennen stattfinden kann ist ungewiss: Tantchen hat zwei kranke Pferde, und auch in Mamis Stall steht eins das nicht einsatzbereit ist. So dauert die Vorfreude eben länger…

Yippee! I can ride him! He can win! But it‘s uncertain when the Big Race can take place: two of Auntie‘s horses are ill, and in Mum‘s stable one is not ready for action. So there will be more and longer anticipation….

Gedankenblitz / Sudden idea

Es ist früh am Morgen, die Sonne geht gerade erst auf. Felix liegt noch im Bett.

It‘s early in the morning, just starting to dawn. Felix still lies in his bed.

Er träumt etwas Schönes: von den Vorbereitungen für das Große Rennen, in dem er ja den temperamentvollen Richthofen reiten soll – was er sich anfangs kaum zugetraut hat.

He is having a sweet dream: of the preparations for the Big Race, where he is gong to ride vivacious Richthofen – something he didn‘t trust himself to do in the beginning.

Dank seiner Lehrer ist er viel sattelfester geworden – Ungarische Post mit Pamina und Amadeus!

His horsemanship increased a lot, owing to his instructors – Hungarian post with Pamina and Amadeus!

Frei stehend auf dem galoppierenden Major.

Standing freely on galloping Major.

Der Traum geht weiter….

The dream goes on...

Es hat ja schon einmal jemand mit Richthofen ein Rennen gewonnen, wenn auch ein improvisiertes und etwas chaotisches, aber das war nicht Felix sondern Luise!

Someone already won a race with Richthofen, even when it was quite improvised and chaotic. And it was not Felix, it was Luise!

Der Gedanke weckt ihn.

That thought wakes him up.

Ich muss aufstehen! Ich muss los! Ich muss mit Richthofen trainieren!

I must get up! I must get going! I must work out with Richthofen!

Drachenhöhle / Dragons‘ nest

Wir waren eine ganze Weile nicht im Zwergenhaus. Das sieht man vor allem dort, wo der Rasen hin gehört.

We haven‘t been at the GnomeHome for a while. You can see it clearly in places where lawn is meant to be.

Aber Felix schaut woanders hin. Was siehst du, Felix?

But Felix is watching something else. What are you looking at, Felix?

In der Ruine unseres Lehmofens haben sich zwei kleine Drachen eingenistet!

In the ruins of our loam oven two little dragons have settled!

Was habt ihr hier vor? Ihr könnt jetzt kein Drachenfeuer spucken, der Ofen ist außer Betrieb!

What are you up to? You can‘t breathe dragon fire now, the oven is out of service!

Nein, ihnen gefällt es hier und sie sind eingezogen, weil es wie eine Drachenhöhle aussieht.

No, they like it here and they moved in because the place reminds them of a dragons‘s lair.

Dagegen ist nichts zu sagen. Aber die Reste des Dachs taugen ganz wunderbar als Spielplatz!

This sounds reasonable. But what‘s left of the roof makes a superb playground!

 

Kein Platz für den Mozzarella-Strauch / No room for the mozzarella bush

Alle mögen Tomaten. Deshalb hat Mami jetzt die Jungpflanzen in ihre Kübel gesetzt.

Everybody likes tomatoes. So Mummy has potted the young plants now.

Jason und Harley: Wir übernehmen jetzt!

Jason and Harley: We take over from here!

Harley gießt ganz vorsichtig, denn die Blätter sollen nicht nass werden.

Harley is watering gently, for the leaves are not meant to get wet.

Das Basilikum sieht noch gut aus, es braucht jetzt kein Wasser.

The basil still looks good, it doesn‘t need any water now.

Hat Mami auch an einen Mozzarellastrauch gedacht? Vielleicht drüben im Hochbeet?

Did Mummy remember to plant a mozzarella bush, too? Maybe over there in the raised bed?

Nee, das sieht nach Kartoffeln aus. Hier wollte Mami dieses Jahr doch gar keine Pflanzen!

Nay, this looks like potatoes. But Mummy didn‘t intend to grow them here this year!

Dann hätte sie letzten Herbst keine Kartoffeln in der Erde vergessen dürfen.

So she shouldn‘t have forgotten any potatoes in the dirt last autumn.

Gartenarbeit / Garden chores

Höchste Zeit die Tomaten in ihre Kübel zu pflanzen! Aber erst müssen die mal leer gemacht werden.

It‘s high time to pot the tomatoes! But first the pots must be emptied.

Milo hat schon damit angefangen. Candy ist hell entsetzt. Wie sieht es denn hier aus?

Milo already started to work. Candy is aghast. Who made this mess?

Ich helfe dir. Zu zweit geht es schneller.

I‘ll help you. We‘ll be much faster by two.
