Eine Frage des Stils / A matter of style

Danke Oma!!

At last, Mummy tried out her new (to her) Bernina sewing machine. A great device! Thank you Granny!!

Oliver is wearing the result. The sweater is older, the boots are from Wagner‘s latest delivery. It‘s a shame some moron scribbled nonsens into the piece of art in the hollow tree.

Oliver hat andere Bedenken. Mami? Sollte ein Junge gelbe Hosen tragen?

Oliver is concerned about something else. Mummy? Is a boy meant to wear yellow trousers?

Gelbe Hosen sind ok, sagt Mortimer. Aber dieser lila Streifen am Halsausschnitt? Weiß nicht…

Yellow trousers are alright, Mortimer says. But this purple stripe at the neckline? I‘m not certain...

Pshaw, the purple stripe is at least as stylish as your attempt at wearing something yellow! Doesn‘t the kerchief belong to Mummy‘s dog? I think we‘re equally chic now!

Trainingsmethoden / Training methods

The Big Race has not been forgotten, it only had to be postponed again and again. For some that just means more time for exercise.

Danny and Belle are cantering happily – that‘s good for endurance.

Suddenly a rattling behind them. Danny looks back: What‘s this vehicle?

There‘s no snow, we had to go for an alternative, Cedric says.

This wagon is a bit too large and too heavy, but Nikita and Frosty are having fun anyway.

To outpace you was no sweat at all, and we‘ll get even better with a matching cart. Bye!

Wir müssen uns mehr Mühe geben.

We‘ll have to try harder.

Nicht ganz Zwillinge / Twins not entirely

Es blüht im Garten.

There are flowers in the garden.

Cedric bewundert die Traubenhyazinthen im Gras.

Cedric admires the muscari between the grass.

He is too occupied to realize he is not alone. On he wanders...

Mami! Da sind Palmen im Gemüsegarten!

Mummy! There are palms in the vegetable garden!

Yellow daffodils and blue muscari will make a perfect photo – someone‘s approaching.

Hi, I‘m Cedric, and who are you? We could be twins, except for the eye colour!

Stimmt! Ich bin Gregor.

That‘s right! I‘m Gregor.

Keiner lacht diesmal. Den Namen kann man sich merken! Zwillinge sind wir vielleicht nicht -

This time, no one laughs. A name to remember easily! We may not be twins -

- aber Cousins und Freunde!

- but cousins and friends!

Sehr seltsam / Very strange

Mummy finished another sweater. It‘s just right for Cedric to be on tour with the dogs on a cool sunny morning.

The sky is blue. Nikita and Frosty don‘t miss their sleigh, they are playing happily.

Aber plötzlich rennen die beiden los. Sie jaulen und kläffen!

But all of a sudden they break into a run. They are yapping and yelping!

Oh nein! Sie haben am Waldrand ein Reh entdeckt.

Oh no! They detected a doe on the forest‘s edge.

Frosty! Nikita! Rufen ist zwecklos.

Frosty! Nikita! It‘s pointless to call out for them.

Das Reh flieht panisch. Wird es den Wald erreichen? Die Hunde sind schnell!

The doe is fleeing frantically. Will she reach the forest? The dogs are fast!

Da stoppen die beiden plötzlich. Sie haben etwas gefunden. Das Reh ist vergessen.

But suddenly they stop. They found something. The doe is forgotten.

Was habt ihr denn da?

What do we have here?

Das kann ich nicht glauben!

I cant‘ believe this!

Ein Pinguin???

A penguin???

Fortschritt / Progress

Veronika macht im Wald eine erfreuliche Entdeckung.

In the woods, Veronika discovers something pleasant.

Die Anemonen sind da! Letzte Woche blühte hier noch gar nichts.

The windflowers have arrived! Last week, nothing at all bloomed here.

The dress is by Ruthdolls, our Pamela came in it. Nick brought the cardi into the family. Veronika dug both up in the wardrobe. Next to her, two wild hyacinths and one daffodil – perfect.

Hier sind noch mehr Anemonen. Und da drüben erst….

Here we have more windflowers. But look over there...

Ja! Das ist echter Fortschritt Richtung Frühling.

Yes! We‘re making real progress in the direction of spring.

Blau und GELB! / Blue and YELLOW!

At last, Mummy finished knitting the new sweater.

It‘s in shades of blue and a deep yellow. Erik picked it up and is now hiking along a brook.

Schau mal! Eine kleine Gans wohnt hier. Sie ist gar nicht schüchtern. Wie niedlich!

Look! A little goose lives here. It‘s not shy at all. How cute!

Ich muss weiter. Tschüs Gans!

I must keep going. Bye, goose!

Aber die Gans läuft schnatternd hinter Erik her!

But the goose follows Erik quacking!

Do you believe my sweater is the same colour so I am a goose, too?

Na gut! Dann komm halt mit.

Alright! Just tag along.

Blau und gelb? / Blue and yellow?

Marie has rustled up a blue dress, but her cardi has only a hint of yellow in its pattern.

Maybe I‘ll just stand next to these yellow flowers?

Oder zu diesen? Mami! Du musst schneller stricken!

Or behind those? Mummy! You must knit faster!
