Isolde

My wish list is getting shorter -  I could tick off a very big wish on it.

Ja!

Yes! An early Götz with ochre eyes (or yellow with no lashes) moved in with us. A redhead!

Isolde was victim of experimental junior hairdressing, but we owe to Kendal's last week post (I didn't think of this on my own) that her hairstyle now covers the 9 short clipped holes in her fringe.

She seems to have spent a part of her life in a smoker's household, but the smell is only faint. And all the Sashas here love fresh air, so she might lose it eventually.

Mama?

Mummy? May I hop off that chair AT LAST???

  1. Oh SNAP! How lovely is this that we're both blogging about the Gotz 1960s yellow eyed girls...although your really beautiful girl featured here without lashes is earlier than mine.
That very pretty pale blue dress and bow certainly sets off her super auburn locks and darker yellow eyes.
I once bought a 'smokey' smelling doll so lay her in a sealed cardboard box with a bottom layer of Bi-Carbonate of Soda but raised above this on two pieces of wood so that her body wasn't touching the powder and left her there for three weeks.
After removing her I then left her lying by an open window, but out of the sun, for another week...and she was cured.

    1. The smell really isn't too bad, you need to sniff her hair to recognize it. But if it doesn't get better by airing Isolde, I'll try the soda treatment. It sounds nicer than cat litter!
Yes I enjoyed your Yellow Eye posts very much, and I'm looking forward to the post on Ochre Eyed early Götz!

  2. Ooohhh! She's so lovely! And a redhead! I think one of the reasons why I like the early redheads so much is that their eyes, hair and complexion are different shades of the same basic color. It's a subtle, but very striking look. Great name and a very cute dress too. Well done!

    1. I'm rather pleased with that dress - nothing like a simple style and a cute fabric!

  3. She's wonderful and I love her dress. I do love a red head and her hair held over the young hairdressers efforts looks fine. Kendal is a font of Sasha wisdom.
I'm sure a few days outside over the next few weeks will help get rid of the smokey smell and I love her name Isolde do you have a Tristan ?

    1. There are several boys asking if they can change their name - but as I'm very fond of the Gregors, a Tristan might come across eventually.

  4. Isolde is a beautiful doll! I love looking at the photos of the older dolls. They're so well loved and cared for you wouldn't think some of them were over 50 years old!! When Ezri first came to me, as Prince Gregor, she had a strange smell. I wasn't sure if it was storage, cigarette or just musty. When I eventually took off the blue velvet suit I hung it on the line to air and that seemed to cure it :) x

    1. I found it successful to use coffee to get rid of musty smells in clothing - I just put the garment into a plastic container with a coffee pad for a week, and after some airing the smell has gone. (And the coffee pad needs to go into the bin.) It always worked.
When I bought the unused Prince Gregor wig for my Frankie from ABceta, it came in a plastic bag and had a very strong musty smell. I got rid of that by airing the wig on my cellar staircase, out of the sun, in fresh air for a week.

  5. What a pretty girl! I'm finally catching up with the blog posts that I follow, and it was lovely to find this girl on the first post I read! She's lovely Ursula, congratulations on her joining your Sasha family.
