Nur wenn du weißt was du willst und was du tust, wird ein Tier dir vertrauen. Du darfst aufs Pferd, wenn das mit den Dackeln klappt.

You have to know what you want and what you‘re doing, so an animal will trust you. You are to mount a horse as soon as this works with the dachshunds.

Es ist ja nicht so dass ich zu wenige hübsche blonde englische Mädchen hätte – aber manche Dinge darf man sich auf Ebay nicht entgehen lassen.

There certainly is no shortage of pretty English blondes in my home – but there are opportunities on Ebay you mustn‘t miss.

Keiner wollte Mia! Deshalb gewann ich sie zu einem sehr reellen Preis. In einer besser organisierten Welt hätte sie auch eine Bewohnerin des Roropo-Hofs werden können, aber dort wohnt jetzt ja schon Clara, meine Schwester sammelt Schaukelpferde, nicht Sashas, und so ist sie meine. Italienisch: Mia!

No one wanted Mia! So I won her at a very reasonable price. In a world better organized, she would have made a proper inhabitant of Roropo farm, but there, Clara already moved in. My sister is a collector of rocking horses, not of Sashas, and so she‘s mine. In Italian: Mia!

Sie posiert mit Lamby, nachdem ich ihr die Haare gemacht hatte. Ein weiteres Problem kann ich erst nächstes Jahr lösen: sie hat viel zu straffe Gummis, mit leichter Delle am Halsrand, und dadurch eine gewisse Nackensteife.

She‘s posing with Lamby after having her hair done. There‘s another issue that will have to wait for next year: much too tight elastics resulting in slight neck caving, so her neck is a little on the stiff side.

Das lässt sich aber kurieren! Und so wohnt bei uns ein weiteres wunderschönes blondes englisches Mädchen.

But there‘s a cure for that! So in our house lives another gorgeous British girl.

Der Wald der vergangenen Weihnacht / The forest of past Christmas

Zu viel gegessen! Gute Sachen, viel Süßkram, da braucht es frische Luft und Bewegung. Das finden jedenfalls die Mädchen.

Too much to eat! Good food, lots of sweets, after that you need fresh air and exercise. At least the girls think so.

Honey ist ganz verliebt in Ostwind. Sophia kann immer noch kaum glauben dass wir Helene behalten werden.

Honey has fallen in love with Ostwind. Sophia still finds it hard to believe we‘ll keep Helene.

Wunderbar! Sogar das Wetter macht mit. Wo reiten wir hin?

Ich dachte, zum Wald der vergangenen Weihnacht.

Dort hat schon der Zwergenhaus-Vorbesitzer seine Weihnachtsbäume ausgepflanzt – er hat immer lebende im Topf gekauft. Und Mami und Papi machen es jetzt genau so. Das ist schon ein richtiger kleiner Wald!

That‘s where the GnomeHome‘s former owner planted his ex-Christmas trees – he used to buy live ones in pots. Now Mummy and Daddy are doing just the same. It‘s a real little forest now.

Plötzlich scheut Ostwind. Was hat er?

Suddenly, Ostwind spooks. What‘s wrong with him?

Auch Helene scheint beunruhigt.

Ein winziger Weihnachtsmann! Wie kommt er hierher?

A tiny Santa! How did he come here?

Hallo Mädels! Alle Weihnachtsmänner wachsen an Bäumen – aber nur an solchen, die früher mal Weihnachtsbäume waren. Nächstes Jahr bin ich groß genug und kann Geschenke bringen.

Hi girls! All us Santas grow in trees – but only those who once were Christmas trees will do. Next year I‘ll be tall enough to bring gifts.

Heiligabend / Christmas Eve

Nicht nur Clara hat etwas gehört. Axel geht nachsehen.

Clara wasn‘t the only one who heard something. Axel is taking a look.

Die Cousins sind da! Peter ist sehr aufgeregt. Große Neuigkeiten! Kommt schnell!

Their cousins are here! Peter is very excited. Big news! Come quickly!

Die Pferde sind beim Stall angebunden. Und da ist auch Rick! Sophia freut sich.

They left their horses near the stables. And there‘s Rick! Sophia is happy.

Aber was ist das? Ein Schlitten voller Geschenke, gezogen von zwei Schimmeln! Der rechte Schimmel hat es Peter besonders angetan. Es ist Bianca! Sie ist wieder da!

But what‘s that? A sleigh, filled with gifts, and pulled by two white horses. Peter is attracted especially by the horse to his right. It‘s Bianca! She has safely returned!

Der hintere Schimmel ist Bianca – aber der vordere? Die hübsche Stute soll uns gehören?

The white horse in the background is Bianca – but who is the one next to us? This pretty mare will belong to us?

Noch vor kurzem war sie nicht hübsch. Es ist Nightmare – aus dem Wolfsmoor gerettet, sauber und wieder ganz gesund. Kein Alptraum mehr; sie heißt Helene. Die anderen stürzen sich auf die Geschenke. Sophia hat nur Augen für das Pferd.

Only a short while ago, she wasn‘t pretty at all. It‘s Nightmare – saved from the Wolf Swamp, clean and whole. No more nightmare; her name is Helene. The others have a go at the gifts. Sophia can‘t take her eyes from the horse.

Jetzt kommt auch Clara dazu. Ihre neuen Geschwister sehen nett aus! Aber einen hat sie übersehen.

Now Clara joins them. Her new siblings look nice enough! But there‘s one she hasn‘t noticed yet.

Er sieht sie und kommt ihr entgegen.

He has seen her and comes to greet her.

Ein Traum wurde wahr! Das Traumpferd hört auf den etwas prosaischen Namen Hans, und sie wird ihn reiten dürfen! Clara ist überglücklich.

A dream came true! The dream horse is, somewhat prosaically, called Hans, and she‘ll be able to ride him! Clara is over the moon.

Sophia ist mindestens genau so glücklich, weil sie Helene mitnehmen darf. So ein hübsches, liebes Pferd! Zum Glück wurde sie aus dem gefährlichen Wolfsmoor gerettet.

Sophia is just as happy, as she can take Helene with her. Such a lovely, sweet horse! It was good luck she was saved from the dangerous Wolf Swamp.

Für Honey ist es Zeit Abschied zu nehmen. Aber sie freut sich auf das Wiedersehen mit allen Geschwistern.

To Honey, the time has come to say goodbye. But she‘s looking forward to meeting all her siblings.

Die anderen reiten heim zu Tantchen. Foxi hilft Bianca den Schlitten zu ziehen. Sicher sehen wir uns bald wieder!

The others are on their way home to Auntie‘s. Foxi helps Bianca with the sleigh. We‘ll meet again soon!

Am Tag vor Weihnachten / The day before Christmas

Im Zwergenhaus angekommen! Drei Kinder sind dabei.

Arrived at the GnomeHome! Three kids could come.

Clara weicht keinen Moment von ihrem Koffer. Sie will ihre neue Familie nicht verpassen.

Clara doesn‘t leave her suitcase for one second. She mustn‘t miss her new family.

Sophia und Axel durften Fifty mitbringen. Mit ihm und Liebknecht reiten sie zum See, nachsehen ob das Wasser wieder da ist.

Sophia and Axel could bring Fifty. With him and Liebknecht, they ride to the lake to look if the water has returned.

Ist es nicht! Weit und breit nur das trockene Bett des Sees. Das taugt als Filmkulisse – für einen eher grusligen Film!

It hasn‘t! Wherever you look, only the lake‘s dry bed. That would make a movie location – for a film of the creepier sort!

Die Landschaft ist öde. Wir reiten wieder heim.

The landscape is bleak. Let‘s ride back home.

Oh, da vorn ist das Wasser! Es wird noch eine Weile dauern, bis der See wieder voll ist.

Look, over there the water has arrived! It will take a while until the lake has filled up again.

Übermorgen ist es so weit! Dann wird Clara ihre neue Familie treffen.

Der Koffer ist schon gepackt. Es gibt nichts mehr zu tun. Der Tag will kein Ende nehmen.

Die beiden nächsten Pullover gehen an meine beiden Pyjama Boys.

Phil, links, kann gerade noch so allein stehen – im neuen Jahr muss ich Gummis bestellen und ihn neu aufziehen. Patrick, rechts, hat dieses Problem nicht.

Wie versprochen, hat Bina mit Felix‘ Unterricht angefangen – aber anders als er dachte.

As promised, Bina started Felix' lessons - but they are different from what he expected. 

Bevor du dich auf ein Pferd setzt, brauchst du als erstes Balance. Und Körpergefühl.

Before mounting a horse, first you need balance. And body awareness. 

Nicht schlapp machen! Reiten ist auch anstrengend. Du brauchst Kondition.

Don't hit the wall! Riding is trying, too. You need steam.

OK das sieht immerhin leidlich sportlich aus. Bleib so. Nicht umfallen.

Right that looks almost sporty. Just stay like this. Don't topple over.

Also ich kann jetzt mit verbundenen Augen auf dem Kopf stehen. Wird das Richthofen beeindrucken? Dagmar hat doch gesagt, ich muss meine weibliche Seite entdecken.

Well now I can do a headstand blindfolded. Will Richthofen be impressed? I understand Dagmar said I have to discover my female aspects.

Tust du. Das gehört dazu. Balance, Beweglichkeit, Körpergefühl. Oder hast du schon mal n Typen gesehen der anständig tanzen konnte?
