Spieglein, Spieglein – oder nicht? / Mirror mirror – or not?

Paddy hatte erst Bedenken, aber wir haben versprochen ihn nicht im Kellerwald auszusetzen. Daher ist er mitgekommen und hat es nicht bereut.

Paddy had objections first, but we promised not to abandon him in the Kellerwald. So he came with us and he didn‘t regret it.

Ein guter Platz zum Abhängen. Aber – Moment -

Nein – das ist ganz offensichtlich nicht Paddys Spiegelbild! Es ist Pardel, der Roropo-Leopard.

No – obviously, this is not Paddy‘s reflection! It‘s Pardel, the Roropo leopard.

Wir sind auch Cousins! Und werden beste Kumpels…

We are cousins, too! And we‘ll be best buddies…

Märchengarten / Fairytale garden

Im Garten gibt es immer was zu tun.

There is always something to do in a garden.

Heute hilft Zazou Mami beim Stachelbeeren pflücken. Wenigstens war das der Plan!

Today, Zazou helps Mummy to pick gooseberries. At least, so was her intention!

Es wird leider bald lagweilig. Mami? Das mit dem Prinzen hat gestern nicht geklappt. Vielleicht könnte ich so tun als wäre ich Dornröschen?

Sadly, it gets boring soon. Mummy? To wait for a prince didn‘t work out yesterday. Maybe I can pretend I‘m Sleeping Beauty?

Kein Prinz lässt sich blicken. Zazou zuckelt weiter durch den Garten. Mami? Wehe du tust eine Erbse in mein Bett!

No prince shows up. Zazou continues roaming the garden. Mummy? Don‘t you dare to put a pea into my bed!

Märchenschloss / Fairytale castle

Die Wanderung geht noch weiter. Oben auf dem Eisenberg liegt eine Burgruine.

The tour still goes on. On top of the Eisenberg, a castle run is situated.

Wie aufregend! Ob die Burg von einem Drachen zerstört wurde?

How exciting! Maybe the castle was destroyed by a dragon?

Wenn ja, dann hat er einiges für uns übrig gelassen.

If so, it left enough behind for us.

Der große Turm wurde später gebaut – als es längst keine Drachen mehr gab.

The tall tower was built later – when all the dragons were gone long ago.

Der lärmende Rasenmähermann bleibt die ganze Zeit in unserer Nähe. Nervig!

The noisy lawn mower man is near to us all the time. How annoying!

Wohin führt diese Treppe? Nach unten ins Dunkle.

Where do these stairs lead? Down into the dark.

Setzen wir uns lieber in die Sonne!

Let‘s rather sit in the sun!

Vielleicht kommt ein Ritter mit weißem Pferd vorbei?

Batmobil

Zazou und Earl Grey wandern heute am Eisenberg in der Nähe von Korbach.

Today, Zazou and Earl Grey are hiking at the Eisenberg near Korbach.

Hier steht eine Lore mitten im Wald! Früher wurde dort nach Gold gegraben.

There is a mine car in the middle of the forest! They used to dig for gold here.

Ob noch ein paar Nuggets da sind? Gemein, der Stollen ist vergittert!

Maybe they left some nuggets for us? How mean the tunnel is barred!

Hier wird schon lange nicht mehr geschürft – es gab nie viel Gold. Jetzt dient der Stollen als Winterquartier für Fledermäuse.

They stopped mining here long ago – there never was a large amount of gold. Now the tunnel is winter quarters for bats.

Es kommt sehr kalte Luft aus dem ehemaligen Bergwerk. Aber zu sehen ist nichts, es ist stockfinster. Keine Nuggets und keine Fledermäuse – die werden jetzt im Sommer woanders sein. Wir gehen sie suchen!

Very cold air comes from the dead mine. But you can‘t see anything, it‘s pitch dark. No nuggets and no bats – well now in summer, they seem to be somewhere else. Let‘s go and look for them!

Mogeln lohnt nicht / Cheating doesn‘t pay

Ausreiten in der Gruppe macht halt doch noch mehr Spaß als ausreiten allein.

To go for a ride as a group certainly is more fun than hacking on your own.

Deshalb hat Zazou sich für heute verabredet.

So Zazou made an appointment for today.

Da sind Adelheid und Holly! Holly hat sich gut eingelebt und fühlt sich mit Igor wohl.

There are Adelheid and Holly! Holly already settled in and has a good feeling with Igor.

Belle will überholen. Sie hält das für ein Rennen.

Belle wants to outpace the others. She believes she is in a race.

Geschafft! Aber, Moment, ist da vielleicht Schummelei im Spiel?

Done! But, wait, could there be some cheating involved?

Zazou, Belle – Adelheid und Ilka abzudrängen ist nicht sehr sportlich! Und es hilft nichts – Holly nutzt die Kabbelei und zieht mit Igor vorbei. Das kommt davon!

Zazou, Belle – to block Adelheid and Ilka is no good sports! And it doesn‘t even help – Holly profits from the squabble and takes the lead with Igor. That‘s what you get!

Solo, aber nicht allein / On her own, but not alone

Holly ist bei ihrer neuen Familie. Jetzt muss Zazou ohne sie auf Tour gehen.

Holly stayed with her new family. Now Zazou has to be out without her.

Aber keineswegs allein! Sie hat Belle mitgebracht. Die beiden erkunden die Umgebung.

But not at all alone! She brought Belle. They explore their surroundings together.

Am Waldrand ist es schön kühl.

It‘s nice and cool on the edge of the forest.

Aber da vorn ist eine sehr interessante Wiese.

But the meadows up there look interesting.

Belle gefällt das hohe Gras. Können wir eine Pause machen? Für einen kleinen Imbiss?

Belle likes the tall grass. Could we have a little snack break?

Gleich – ich muss mir erst dieses Objekt aus der Nähe ansehen!

Es ist Kunst! Mitten in der Landschaft. Dem Pferd ist das egal…

Das größte Abenteuer / The greatest adventure

Es ist so weit! Endlich! Heute wird Holly das einzig wahre richtige Abenteuer erleben!

The day has come! At last! Today, Holly will experience the one and only real adventure.

Hm, was tut sie da? Ist das nicht die Tür zu Roropo? Sie klingelt, ein bisschen zittrig. Und was für eine große Tasche sie dabei hat! Zazou ist als moralischer Beistand mitgekommen.

Well, what‘s she doing there? Isn‘t this the door to Roropo? She rings the bell, a wee bit shakily. And what a large bag she brought! Zazou came as her backup.

Das größte Abenteuer von allen! Holly ist in eine neue Familie gekommen! Das fühlt sich ein bisschen komisch an, aber alle heißen sie herzlich willkommen. Und hier gibt es mehr Pferde als Kinder, nicht umgekehrt – ein Paradies für ein pferdeverrücktes Mädchen. Die Zukunft beginnt heute….

The greatest adventure of all! Holly came into a new family! It feels a little strange, but they all welcome her warmly. And there are more horses than children here, not the other way round – a paradise for a horse crazy girl. Future starts today…

Begegnung im Garten / Encounter in the garden

Holly ist allein im Garten unterwegs.

Holly is roaming the garden on her own.

Sie inspiziert die Blaubeersträucher. Die werden noch eine Weile brauchen!

She has a good look at the blueberry bushes. Well they‘ll need more time!

Plötzlich hört sie ein ungewöhnliches Geräusch: ein ganz leises Bimmeln. Es kommt vom Wäldchen in der Nähe.

Suddenly, she hears an unusual sound: a very soft tinkling. It comes from the grove nearby.

Da ist ein kleines schwarzes Schaf! Es ist ganz allein.

There is a small black sheep! It‘s all alone.

Wer bis du denn? Das Schaf lässt sich nicht stören.

Now who are you? The sheep doesn‘t mind.

Kommst du mit mir mit? In den Stall, zu den anderen?

Will you come with me? To the stables, to the others?

Das Schäfchen folgt Holly zutraulich. Das ist sehr niedlich – aber ist es ein Abenteuer? Immer noch nicht so richtig….

The sheep follows Holly trustfully. That‘s very cute – but is it an adventure? Still, that‘s not the real thing…

Hollys Abenteuer / Holly‘s adventure

Holly ist also bereit für Abenteuer – nur, was ist das Abenteuer?

So Holly is ready for adventure – but, what will be the adventure?

Sie und Zazou haben es ins Zwergenhaus geschafft. Das ist herrlich! Aber es ist noch kein Abenteuer.

Her and Zazou made it to the GnomeHome. That‘s superb! But it‘s not yet an adventure.

Im Wintergarten trifft Holly auf einen Leoparden. Ist das das Abenteuer? Kaum – es ist nur unser Paddy.

In the conservatory, Holly meets a leopard. Maybe this is the adventure? Rather not – it‘s only our Paddy.

Die Mädels sind mit den Pudeln unterwegs und klettern auf einen Holzstoß. Ein schöner Platz für ein Sonnenbad, aber ist das das Abenteuer? Eher nicht.

The girls are out and about with the poodles and have climbed a log pile. A pretty place to take a sunbath, but can this be the adventure? Hardly!

Zurück auf der Terrasse – Mami! Da ist ein Dickicht aus Unkraut!

Back on the deck – Mummy! There is a weed thicket!

Das ist kein Unkraut, das sind Blumen: Wicken, Glockenblumen und Akelei. Sie dürfen bleiben bis sie geblüht haben.

They are not weeds but flowers: sweet peas, bellflowers, and aquilegia. They may stay until they have bloomed.

OK, wir spielen Dschungelforscher. Das macht Spaß! Aber ist es auch das Abenteuer? Noch nicht…

Alright, let‘s play jungle explorer. That‘s fun! But is it also the adventure? Not yet…

Juni / June

Es ist nicht zu leugnen: der Sommer ist angekommen. Gestern war es warm, heute ist es richtig heiß.

You can‘t deny it: summer is here. It was warm yesterday, today is a scorcher.

Holly hat ein Anliegen: Ich habe immer noch meinen Winterpullover an!
