On the rocks....

Vergangenen Mittwoch (letzte Woche, nicht gestern) in meinem Garten:

Last Wednesday (last week, not yesterday) in my garden:

Ich hatte mich noch gefreut dass es endlich regnete, aber das? Das kann niemand brauchen!

First I was happy it started raining at last, but this? No one needs that!

20 Minuten Hagel, und unser schöner Garten sah ganz ganz anders aus.

20 minutes of hail, and our pretty garden looked very, very different.

Meine Ex Geranie, daneben blühte eine Petunie.

My ex pelargonium,  on its side a petunia had bloomed.

Noch am Donnerstag lag das Zeug auf der Terrasse herum. Das ist kein Spinat, das war mal der Schatten von unserem Flieder!
Ich weiß dass vieles nachwachsen wird - aber niedergeschmettert war ich trotzdem.

The stuff stayed on our deck until Thursday. That's not spinach, that used to be the shadow from our lilac tree!
I know a lot will grow again, but I was devastated anyway.

  1. Oh, that's too bad. Hail can be so destructive. Several years ago we had a very bad hail storm in the spring and it ruined all of our hostas for that summer.

    1. My mum's hostas also all have vanished... we hope they'll come back next year...
My hosta didn't suffer much, as the lilac tree took most oft the hail.

  2. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! But it's JULY! Doesn't Mother Nature look at her calendar at all? I'm so sorry that you're plants have suffered, poor things...but hopefully they will spring up again really soon, if not already.

    1. Some seem to recover, but others were so shredded I had to dig them out. Well there's always the next garden center...

  3. Oh No! What a nightmare! so much hail in such a short time! your poor battered plants. I know it's awful now but they hopefully will all recover and soon be brightening up the garden again soon.
But as a gardener I know how you must have felt looking outside after that storm!

    1. The mean thing is, it hadn't rained for some time, and it had been very hot, so I was glad when it looked like rain - but no one had asked for ice!
