Wem der Schuh passt / Whom the shoe fits

Manchmal sieht man die Passform eines Schuhs im Internet nicht - und Sashas haben schlanke Füße. Ein paar (nicht viele!) unserer Wagner Schuhe sehen toll aus, wenn ihr Träger allein ist, aber etwas breit wenn eine Puppe in anderen Schuhen daneben steht.
Was tun? Eine Puppe musste her, die gleich lange aber breitere Füße hat. Und weil meine Mutter Käthe Kruse sammelt, fiel die Wahl leicht: eine Puppe VIII / großes Deutsches Kind!
Das Angebot an Krusekindern im deutschen Ebay ist riesig. Ich wollte ein Mädchen zum Spielen, und so bot ich auf eine, die keine Kleider mehr hatte.


Sometimes it's difficult to decide from photos in the internet if a shoe fits Sasha - they have slender feet. A few (not many!) of our Wagner shoes look great as long as their wearer is alone, but next to a doll in different shoes they might appear a little too wide.
The solution: I needed a doll whose feet are the same length, but a little broader. As my mum collects Käthe Kruse, it was an easy choice: a doll VIII / Large Deutsches Kind!
There's quite a lot of Käthe Kruse dolls offered in German Ebay. I wanted a girl to play with, so I bid on one that had lost her clothes.

Das Foto ist leider unscharf - der Schuh passt! Dann muss es Cinderella sein - oder Cindy. Das Kleid hat sie von ihren Sasha-Cousins geliehen. An ihr sieht es nicht einmal zu lang aus!

Her photo is a little out of focus - but the shoe fits! So she has to be Cinderella - or Cindy. She borrowed a dress from her Sasha cousins. It's the perfect length for her!



Ich konnte das für sie genähte Outfit ja erst fertig machen, als sie eingetroffen war. Hier trägt sie es, im Zwergenhaus und in Gesellschaft von 3 kleinen Geschwistern.
Aber das ist eine andere Geschichte....

Ich habe versucht einen Kompromiss zu finden zwischen Mami-cool und Jungs-cool. Die Zwillinge bekamen passende Hemden zu ihren Shorts.

I tried to find a compromise between Mummy-cool and boys-cool. I gave the twins matching shirts to go with their shorts.

What's hot & what's not

Die Jungs und ich haben völlig unterschiedliche Ansichten, was coole Klamotten sind. Ich habe zum Beispiel im Sasha Haven wundervolle Westen-Sets gesehen. Die Zwillinge glauben dass das, was sie jetzt gerade tragen, viel eher ihr Style sei.

The boys and I have very different opinions of what are cool outfits. I have seen those stylish waistcoat sets in Sasha Haven.... But the twins believe their style is what they are wearing today.

Westen? Die trägt man auf einer Hochzeit! Vielleicht....
Zu diesen Shorts passen nur T-Shirts! Also, coole T-Shirts.

Waistcoats? You can wear them on a wedding. Maybe...
These shorts must be worn with t shirts. Cool t-shirts, mind.

Na Marty bei dir ist es vielleicht noch irgendwo stimmig - Spukschloss-Look - aber Cody, Flecktarn und Schädel, was willst du uns damit sagen? Ist schon Halloween?

Wer trägt an Halloween kurze Hosen?
Mama kann so altbacken sein. Dabei heißt es, sie fährt jeden Tag mit dem Motorrad ins Büro.
Nö, das ist nur ein Roller. Schnell, aber doch nur ein Roller.

Mum can be so oldschool. Though they say she rides to her office each day on a motorcycle. 
Naw, it's only a scooter. A fast one, but just a scooter.

Wandertag / A day spent hiking

Am letzten Tag haben wir eine längere Wanderung unternommen - also, für uns alte Leutchen sind 9km schon mehr als ein Spaziergang.

On our last day we went on a hiking tour - for us oldies, 9km already mean more than a little walk.

Isolde trägt ein Kleid, das in den Märchenwald passt. Immer nur bergauf, beklagt sie sich.

Isolde wears a fairytale forest themed dress.
Uphill all the way, she complains.
 

Aber vom Tal aus gibt es keine Aussicht! Und einmal oben, ging es ziemlich eben weiter.

But there is no view from the valley! And after the first climbing was done, the way became quite even.

Trotzdem braucht man dann und wann eine Rast. Gut dass hier eine Bank steht!

Anyway, you need a rest now and then. How good they put a bench here!

Diese Aussichtskanzel ist am Hagenstein. Die Einheimischen nennen sie stolz Eder-Loreley.

This is the Hagenstein scenic outpost. The locals proudly call it Eder-Loreley.

Die Eder ist vielleicht ein bisschen kleiner als der Rhein. Aber die Aussicht ist schon schön.

The Eder may be a wee bit smaller than the Rhine. But it's a pretty view still.

Außer für Isolde. 
Ich fühl mich hier sehr sicher. Aber ich sehe nichts!

Isolde begutachtet unsere Versuche, den Vorgarten schöner zu gestalten.

Edersee

Das Zwergenhaus liegt in Luftlinie gar nicht weit weg vom Edersee. Wir könnten, wenn wir sportlicher wären, durch den Wald zu Fuß hin gehen - allerdings müssten wir danach den ganzen Weg wieder zurück! Mit dem Auto ist es, weil im Nationalpark keine Straßen sind, eine gute halbe Stunde.

As the bird flies, the GnomeHome is not far from the lake Edersee. If we had a gift for sports, we could hike there through the forest - but that would mean we'd have to walk all the way back afterwards! As there are no roads in the National Park, it's a little more than half an hour by car.

Natürlich hatte Isolde ein passendes Outfit mit!

Isolde of course had brought the right outfit for the occasion!

Der See ist in Wirklichkeit eine Talsperre. Über den Sommer wird das meiste Wasser abgelassen, offiziell wegen der Schifffahrt in der Weser, sicher aber auch um die Kernkraftwerke dort zu kühlen.

The lake is created by a river dam. In summer, most of the water is drained, officially in favour of ship transport on the river Weser, but probably also for cooling the nuclear power stations there.

Das hier ist ein Seitenarm bei Nieder-Werbe. Noch hat er genug Wasser für Wassersport.

This is a branch near the village Nieder-Werbe. Yet, there is enough water for sports.

Ein Boot haben wir leider nicht. Und zum Schwimmen ist es heute zu kalt.

Sadly, we don't have a boat. And it's too cold for swimming today. 

Aber man kann immer auf einem Stein sitzen, gucken und träumen. 

But one can always sit on a stone, watching and dreaming.

Mir zu bunt / A clash of colours

Isolde war, Ostern 2019, schon mal im Zwergenhaus, aber diese Fotos haben es nie in den Blog geschafft. Das wird diesmal anders.

Isolde already visited the GnomeHome, Easter 2019, but those photos never made it into the blog. This time will be different.

Für die Reise trug sie ein wunderschönes Set von Vicky, das ihr sehr gut steht.
Aber nicht hier, Mami! Das beißt sich mit den Wicken!
(Komischerweise sieht es auf meinem Monitor aus als würde es passen...)

For the journey she wore a lovely Vicky set that suits her very well.
But not here, Mummy! It clashes with the vetches!
(It's funny, on my monitor it almost looks as if she'd blend in....)

OK mit dem weißen Spalier davor ist es etwas besser - aber nicht gut.

Mal sehen wohin dieser Weg führt.
