Falscher Wald / Wrong forest

Am nächsten Morgen geht es ab in den Bietigheimer Forst – das ist der nächst gelegene Wald.

The next morning, we‘re on our way to Bietigheimer Forst – the closest forest to our house.

Der Boggel sieht sich um. Der Wald sieht recht klein aus! Und es ist eine laute Straße in der Nähe.

The boggel looks around. This forest seems quite small! And a noisy road is nearby.

 

Dieser Baum ist knorrig, aber es ist eine Kastanie.

This tree is gnarled, but it‘s a chestnut.

Das ist eine Buche, aber sie ist sehr jung.

This is a beech, but it‘s very young.

Und da drüben, ein großer Parkplatz auf dem viel los ist? So ist das halt in Ballungsräumen. Man ist nie allein im Wald.

And over there, a large crowded parking lot? That‘s how it is in metropolitan areas. You are never alone in the forest.

Milo sieht, dass der Boggel sehr unglücklich schaut.

Milo can see the unhappiness in the boggel‘s face.

Danke, sagt das kleine Wesen schließlich. Lieb dass ihr euch solche Mühe gebt. Bestimmt kann ich mich hier einleben. Der Zweifel in seiner Stimme ist nicht zu überhören.

Thank you, the little creature says in the end. You‘ve been so kind to me. I‘ll certainly get settled in here. But the doubt in its voice is unmistakable.

Ah Quatsch, sagt Milo. Ich nehm dich jetzt wieder mit, und wenn Mami das nächste Mal zum Zwergenhaus fährt, bringt sie dich zurück in den Kellerwald.
