Sehen braune Pferde alle gleich aus? / Do all bay horses look the same?

Es ist wärmer geworden. Also, nicht richtig warm, aber wenigstens nicht mehr minus 15 Grad.

It‘s getting warmer. That doesn‘t equal warm, but it is a lot better than 15 degrees minus.

Zeit mit den neuen Pullis anzugeben! Mami war wieder fleißig.

Zum Reiten zieht ihr wenigstens Schals und Mützen an! Heute gibt es zwei braune Pferde für die Kinder. Manche finden diese Farbe ja langweilig, oder die Pferde schwer zu unterscheiden….

For your ride, you‘ll at least wear scarves and hats! Today, two bays are waiting for the children. Some may think this colour is boring, or it‘s difficult to tell the horses apart….

 

Links haben wir Ostwind. Auf ihn musste ich sehr lange warten: dem Paketdienst fiel ganz kurz vor dem Ziel auf, dass sein Karton 1cm zu hoch war, und so schickten sie ihn 500km zurück zum Verkäufer. Der ihn dann umpacken und nochmal verschicken musste.

To the left, we have Ostwind. I had to wait for him for a very long time: when he had almost reached his destination, the parcel service realized they hadn‘t seen before that his box was 1cm too high. So they brought him back, 500km, to his seller. Who had to re pack and send him again.

Rechts ist Bastille. Sie kam mit einer hässlichen Mähne aus Bast (daher der Name) – und ihr Verkäufer hatte „vergessen“ das gebrochene Hinterbein zu erwähnen- Aber Dr Tom und Dr NeverUschi haben das hinbekommen – genau so wie ihr gesprungenes Glasauge; der Riss ließ sich mit Nagellack füllen.

To the right is Bastille. She came with an ugly mane made of raffia (hence her name, raffia = Bast in German) – and her seller had „forgotten“ to mention her broken hind leg. But Dr Tom and Dr NeverUschi were able to mend it – as well as her cracked glass eye, which I could fill up and seal with nail varnish.

Los gehts! Eve hat Ostwind, Mortimer sitzt auf Bastille.

Here we go! Eve has gotten Ostwind, Mortimer mounted Bastille.

Ostwind ist schneller, deshalb reitet Eve vorn.

Ostwind is quicker, that‘s why Eve is riding in front.

Das könnte heuer der letzte Ausritt im Schnee sein. Man sieht es auf den Bildern nicht, aber es taut.

This could be this year‘s last snowy riding tour. You don‘t see it in the pictures, but it‘s thawing.

Bastilles Schweif ist etwas kurz, aber weil er aus echtem Rosshaar ist, wird daran nichts geändert.

Bastille‘s tail is a bit short, but since it‘s genuine horse hair, I didn‘t change it.

Auch Ostwinds Schweif ist aus echtem Rosshaar. Er ist ein bisschen ausgegangen, aber noch schön lang.

Ostwind‘s tail is of real horse hair, too. It‘s thinned a little, but it‘s still nice and long.

Am Schluss werden die Pferde an der Hand geführt, damit sie auf dem Weg zu Stall schon etwas abkühlen und trocknen können. Mortimer und Eve haben hier viel gelernt!

At the end, the horses are led back, so they can cool down and dry on their way to the stable. Mortimer and Eve have learned a lot!
