Zeigt her eure Füße / Show your feet

Weil ich, wie jeder, zu wenige Schuhe für meine Sashas habe, UND dazu noch einen Posten Ledermuster für Polstermöbel im Hobbyraum, habe ich mich an einem Schnitt für Schuhe versucht. Es sollten Haferlschuhe werden: zum einen gibt es die nicht oft zu kaufen, zum anderen hatte ich in einem meiner Puppensachen-Bücher einen Schnitt dafür.
Leider war der Schnitt für eine viel größere Puppe mit breiteren Füßen gedacht. Nach einer Menge Rumprobieren, scheußlich klumpig aussehenden Probe-Paddelbooten, Rumjustieren und Wegschneiden hatte ich schließlich ein Paar aus Wollfilz, das halbwegs plausibel aussah.
Und endlich passte!! Ich war sehr stolz.

Like everyone, I'm short of shoes for my Sashas, BUT I have several samples of upholstery leather in my cellar. So I tried to make my own shoes. I went for Haferlschuhe (didn't find a translation) because they are rare to find and in one of my doll clothes books, there was a pattern.
Unfortunately the pattern was for a bigger doll with wider feet. So after many attemps, resulting in ugly boxy boats, not boots, adjusting and cutting, I managed at last a pair out of wool felt that looked right.
And they fit! I was very proud.

Bei diesem Paar habe ich die Schnürsenkel weggelassen, weil ich Angst hatte der Filz könnte einreißen. Sie passen Felix aber auch als Slipper. Er steht überraschend sicher darin.

I omitted the laces out of fear the felt might tear. But Felix can wear them as slippers without losing them. I was surprised how stable he stands in them.

Sieht man auf dem Foto nicht, aber die Kanten sind abgesteppt, und unten ist der Schuh an der Filzsohle angenäht, beides mit der Maschine.

Filz war leicht zu nähen... Frankie führt hier den ersten Leder-Prototypen vor; dünnes Wildleder, wieder abgesteppt und auf eine Filzsohle genäht, und dann eine weitere Sohle aus dicker Pappe darunter geklebt. Womit ich ÜBERHAUPT nicht zufrieden bin, aber vernünftiges dickes Leder hatte ich auch nicht.

Da hilft nur den Gatten fragen - der hortet die erstaunlichsten Dinge...

Sewing felt was the easy part... here Frankie (again) shows the first leather prototype; thin suede, topstitched (my machine was not amused) and again sewn to wool felt soles. Since the soles looked too thin, I glued cardboard soles to them. I was not NOT AT ALL convinced by the result, but I couldn't find leather that was thick enough.

Only solution is to ask the most patient of all husbands - he hides the most remarkable things in his workshop drawers...
