Ellie in London

We had a short discussion, and the large bag was taken on our trip - but it was used differently than Ellie had thought.

So she could be in the cabin. On the pic, she is carefully examining the Stansted Express.

She was allowed much less outfits than she had wanted, but she was well equipped for the forecast rain.

The photo was taken on Tuesday, when still all was peaceful and quiet in Westminster.

In Westminster Abbey waren keine Fotos erlaubt. Im Kreuzgang dann aber schon.

No photos allowed inside Westminster Abbey, but in the cloister it was okay.

Hier geht es in die Tate Britain. Mami musste sich die Präraffaeliten ansehen!

This is the entrance to Tate Britain. Mummy had to see the Pre-Raphaelites!

Little girls may be unimpressed by old paintings - but no rain at all on Tuesday! How great!
The cardigan was finished just in time. The pinafore was made from an old pair of Volcom shorts that had belonged to my daughter.

  1. I am so glad your trip to London was peaceful and you did not get caught up in the terrible things that happened. I loved That Ellie was dressed and ready for the English weather :)
So glad to see you went to Tate Britain, I grew up just across the river there, in Vauxhall, and spent my childhood crossing the river to wander the Tate, as it was called then, to see all the wonderful paintings and also to walk to Westminster and Trafalgar Square and roam the National and the Portrait Gallery's, I miss not living in London only for that reason, that the history and culture is so close.

    1. It must have been a pleasure to grow up so close to all the wonderful galleries and museums in London. 3 nights was much too short to see them all - but I had my poor old mum and my very patient husband tick off a quite long list of sights!

  2. Ellie looks very well prepared for the much anticipated trip to London, despite not having as extensive a wardrobe as she might have liked! I'm glad your visit was good and you didn't get caught up in the crime in Westminster.

    1. We never noticed the terrible things happening in Westminster, until the SMS from our relatives in Germany came in. I was very impressed how the Londoners reacted to that act of terror. I believe it's crucial not to let those people win by getting scared.

    2. You are so right Ursula. For many years we had the IRA threatening our way of life, I was working in the City back then and regularly we had to get off the tube because of bomb threats etc., but we just got on with it...Londoners are made of stern stuff!!! ;) xx

  4. So pleased to hear that you escaped that act of Terrorism whilst visiting our capital city. (Unfortunately one of my nieces was in The Houses of Parliament/Westminster Abbey at that time but luckily didn't actually witness the dreadful act or the resulting casualties, being two side streets away having just slipped out for lunch at a nearby cafe.)

Ellie looked as though she was enjoying herself and was suitably dressed for the occasion and luckily the raincoat wasn't needed as sight-seeing is so much harder in the rain.

  5. How lovely that you were visiting London, my 'almost' home town! But so glad too that you were not in that location on Wednesday, such a sad day :(
Ellie looks lovely, how nice that she was able to go with you....some Sashas have all the luck don't they! It was good also that she was prepared for the weather, just in case. You can never be sure that it's not going to rain when you're in the UK!!!
I hope you enjoyed your holiday :)
    xx
