Neue Stoffe / New fabrics

Suddenly, there was room in the fabric box. So when our Lidl supermarket offered quilting kits, 7 matching patterns, each large enough for 4 mouthmasks - or 1 mask and a dress - I snapped one up.
I was very good, and the first 3 (not so pretty) pieces became masks. But from the other 4, I made new outfits for the Sashas.

Natascha got the first dress:

Mit Kirschen! Genau richtig für den Sommer.

With cherries! Just right for summer.

Das passende Haarband ist übrig gebliebene Häkelschnur vom Masken machen. Sie braucht es, weil ihr Pony sonst waagrecht hoch steht. Aber es sieht an ihr auch sehr hübsch aus.

The matching hair band is spare crochet string from mask making. She needs it - else her bangs stick up. But it also looks lovely on her.

  1. I like your thinking, not so pretty fabric for the masks and then the pretty fabric for the Sasha's. A win win.
The cherry fabric makes a lovely dress for Natascha.

    1. The whole idea of mask making was win win - it kept me occupied, and it prevented at least some people from paying way too much for commercially made masks.
But I certainly had to make a dress from the cherry fabric!

    1. Thank you! Yes, our family is well, even though there were many infections in Southern Germany. So I'm grateful none of us ever goes skiing!

  3. That was really fortunate that Lidl were selling fabric kits because I'm sure if it's like here then you wouldn't have found any fabric stores open right now.
I like the cherry fabric, which isn't surprising as cherries are my favourite fruit....I ate a kilo of them the other day!!! Ooops!!
    Big hugs xx

    1. In fact, the fabric stores opened about a month ago BUT when I visited one, I had to queue for three quarters of an hour - there were only 5 customers allowed at a time, and everyone needed fabrics for mask making. So the pretty ones quickly sold out.
Sadly, we won't get many cherries from the Gnome Home garden this year, because it failed to rain from March on. Well we still can buy some - here, the season just started.
